Governmental Accounting & Financial Reporting (3-day)

This course includes both currently effective GASB standards and the key aspects of GASB Statements 34-41 and Interpretation 6. The "new reporting model" basic financial statements are discussed and illustrated throughout. Revised to incorporate the essential overall content and application of all relevant GASB Pronouncements.

No prerequisites. 24 CPE credits.

UPDATE: Governmental Accounting, Reporting & Auditing (1-day)

The 2007 Update emphasizes understanding and implementing GASB Statements 33, 34, 35, 37, 38, 39, 40 and 41; any new issued GASB statements; the related Implementation Guides; and GASB Interpretations 6. This seminar emphasizes understanding and implementing recent GASB Statements (e.g., 42, 43, 44, 45, 46, and 47), Interpretations, and Exposure Drafts. Selected GASB Implementation Guide issues will be analyzed, and SLG-related recent and proposed audit standards and guidance will be reviewed.

No prerequisites. 8 CPE credits.

Who Should Attend

Both seminars are directed to state and local government finance officers, controllers, auditors, and related personnel and to independent public accountants with state and local governmental auditing or consulting practices, as well as accountants who are interested in developing a government practice.

  • The 3-day program, Governmental Accounting & Financial Reporting, is recommended both for those who have little or no formal training in governmental accounting and as a refresher course for all governmental accountants and auditors.
  • The 1-day program, Update: Governmental Accounting, Reporting & Auditing, is designed for experienced governmental accountants, auditors, and finance officers, independent public accountants, and those who have attended the 3-day seminar.

What You Should Bring

Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) - Bring a CAFR. You will benefit from reviewing a CAFR of your government or client government as the seminar proceeds, particularly during the 3-day Governmental Accounting & Financial Reporting seminar.

Casual clothes - but bring a sweater or jacket since meeting room temperatures may vary.
